Experience the excitement and fun of the season at the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce’s Old Fashioned Holiday Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 5th, 2013.
This family fun event held from 4:00-7:00 pm is a great kick-off to the holiday season at the Farmers’ Market on Meridian and El Centro, near the Iron Works Museum, at the Metro Gold Line South Pasadena Station (formerly Mission Station).
Festivities will begin at 4:00 pm, with a wide array of entertainment and events. Musical performances will be provided by a number of local South Pasadena groups. At 6:00 pm, watch the highlight of the event as the Mayor turns on the brilliant lights of the tree. Of course, also keep an eye out for Santa Claus’s grand entrance and the chance to visit and take photos with him. (Santa will be available every Thursday before Christmas during the Farmers’ Market for photographs and for kids to share their Holiday Wish Lists.) The Iron Works Museum will be decorated for the holidays, and the South Pasadena Preservation Foundation will have seasonal treats for visitors.
The tree will be a living tree, specially chosen by the City of South Pasadena arborist. Throughout December it will be on view near the Meridian Ironworks Museum. Then it will be planted permanently in the city in 2014 as a donation from the Chamber of Commerce.
